Dry stone wall

Dry stone wall

This project involved a complete transformation of the entire back garden, creating a more structured, private, and enjoyable outdoor space in this beautiful property in Oxfordshire. The design incorporated two dry stone walls, each serving a distinct purpose within the garden layout. A low dry stone wall, topped with patio slabs, was used to subtly separate the lawn from the patio area, while a much taller 8-foot dry stone wall was introduced to provide privacy and significantly reduce road noise.

Traditional dry stone walling techniques were used throughout, ensuring the walls blended naturally into the surrounding landscape. The lower wall was carefully capped with patio slabs to create a clean, functional edge between the grass and paved area. The taller wall was engineered for height and stability, using carefully selected stone and precise construction methods to deliver both strength and acoustic buffering. Together, the walls create definition, structure, and a strong visual framework for the garden.

The project was carefully planned and executed from start to finish, resulting in a dramatic improvement to both the usability and atmosphere of the garden. The client was extremely pleased with the transformation, particularly the increased sense of privacy and the noticeable reduction in noise. The finished space now feels calm, enclosed, and well balanced, offering a high-quality outdoor environment designed for long-term enjoyment.
